YOUR FIRST FLIGHT
So now you have all of your required and needed software installed. Here at FSVA we require you as a new pilot to fully understand and use the tracking client for your flights. Keep in mind that there are penalties awarded by our governing body FSAIRLINES for mistakes in your flight. Three Major mistakes that impact the reputation of our airline are Landing at the wrong airport, running out of fuel and crashing. Minor mistakes are landing lights , over-speed whilst taxiing and under flight level 10000. The minor mistakes are deemed as pilot error and only affect the reputation of the pilot. The Major are reflected on the Airlines reputation hence the need to fully understand that there is an option to EXIT the client at any stage and render the flight as unflown. With this it is as if the flight never occurred and any mistakes are not recorded.
Because of this we do need you to complete two training flights. You have the choice of two trips KMCO to KPHK and return or EGMC to EGHI and return in the Beech350 default aircraft. These flights are set up with no effect on the airline should a mistake be made. There is also a brand new aircraft awaiting you at both KMCO and EGMC whichever airport you base yourself at when registering and joining FSAIRLINES so please take care of it.
Please remember that these flights are not designed to assess your flying ability or experience.
Lets get started
There are a number of steps to follow but once you are familiar you will do them without thinking.
Your first point of call is to log onto FSAIRLINES.NET and log in. when you go to the crew centre it will automatically open to your profile. On the right within the picture you will see all your details. You will see that you are bases at either KMCO or EGMC and that your rank is a student pilot. There is other information on your profile page that we will not go into at the moment and in the main is self explanatory. One we will deal with is the type of aircraft you are rated to fly. If by the time you are at this stage, you should have already been rated to fly the B350 training aircraft.
Now it is time to "book" your first flight. On the left upper area of your profile page you can highlight and select "Book Flight". This will open a selection for you where you can first of all select your destination, you are looking for either KPHK or EGHI depending again on where you elected to be based. After selecting your destination you are then offered the choice of aircraft. At this point there is only one available, the B350. Select this aircraft and you will get a message that the flight has been "booked" with the option of going to the briefing. It would be wise to view the briefing as there is information of the fuel required for the flight, take note of this.
Now start up your Flight Simulator starting at your base KMCO or EGMC and the default B350 at a parking date or ramp and the FSAirlines Client. You may have to enter your details such as username and password if you have not already done so. These are the same details as you used to register with FSAirlines.
When your client is up and running and you are logged in, you will have a number of options. Most will be dealt with in the "Software Settings" section but for now we will deal with only a couple. With your flight now booked you can select the fly button where you will be presented with fuelling options. There is a process here that I would suggest you do but will only be needed once with every aircraft you choose to fly within FSNVA.
You have an option to "load Initial Fuel" whereby the amount of fuel left in the tanks by the previous pilot can be used by you. Once it is loaded into the client and subsequently into your Flight Simulator save the flight through your Flight Simulator menu.
You are now ready to assess the amount of fuel in the aircraft and the amount needed for the flight. With that done you can now add more if needed by manually entering the required amount in each tank, remember also that you will need enough for a return flight so you can either double your amount here or buy more at your destination for the return flight. If you are happy with the amount of fuel including extra for taxiing, holding and go arounds, select "Fuel Up"
Okay, let us now get ready for the flight, Select "FLY" from the client menu and return to your Flight Simulator, The client is now recording your actions.
I gather you have already set up your flight planner or whatever you use to get you to the destination if not, do so now.
Before we taxi, there are a couple of things to bear in mind that will affect your reputation, as with real world air regulations there are a couple of do's and do nots that we as all virtual airlines have to comply and they are;
1 You must not taxi at a speed exceeding 20 knots ground speed.
2 Landing lights must be on below 1000 feet and off above 10000 feet.
3 You must not exceed 250knots indicated under 10000 feet.
As our training flight will not take us above 10000 feet and we are flying the B350 items 2 and 3 will not apply.
Let us start our Aircraft if not already running and set our altitude to 5000 feet. Taxi to the active runway below 20knots and make sure our landing lights are on.
We are ready to go when you are captain. Please fly as smoothly as you can and make it a smooth and soft landing. Also make sure that we get to the CORRECT destination airport.
If in flight you crash or run out of fuel, or at anytime anything goes wrong, open up the client and look for the "EXIT" button, not the minimise or close. This EXIT is most important as this will stop the client and the flight will never have begun!!! You can restart the flight abd start again following the procedures and steps we have already covered except reloading the saved flight will have all your fuel as it was. You will still need to select "Fuel Up"
Arriving at the destination reduce your speed to under 20 knots and taxi to the gate if you wish. Where you actually park is of no real concern as long as you do not exceed the taxi speed limit. Now make sure that your parking brake is set and open the client, you now have the option to end the flight. Select "End Flight" which will advise you of your performance and where you can enter any comments you may wish to make or you can just select "Next" on each screen. This now records the flight to the FSAirlines governing body and registers the flight against your profile. You can now view your profile page on FSAirlines and you will see the flight you have completed.
It is now time to book and fly the return flight in the same manner.
Once your two training flights have been completed your profile will be reviewed by either our Personnel/Training Manager or the Chief Executive Manager where if there were no major mistakes, you will be given a type-rating for all the Aircraft in the fleet.
Congratulations on becoming a respected pilot within FSVA.
