For those of you who are new to the world of Virtual Airlines, let me explain how we, along with others, work.
A Virtual Airline is a Virtual Company who, through the network of the internet, recruit and employ Flight Simulator Enthusiasts as pilots to fly routes and earn Virtual Dollars for both the company and more importantly themselves. These Virtual dollars earned by individual pilots can be used to purchase virtual personal property ranging from clothing and sporting goods to luxury yachts, cars and your own personal aircraft.
Why a Virtual airline and why FSVA you ask?
The answer to that is easy, you are a Flight Simulator enthusiast and choose to fly from A to B and maybe return. Pretty boring really, however as a virtual pilot with a Virtual Airline there are set routes that must be flown to carry virtual passengers and cargo around the world and this payload is recorded by an add on client and income is paid to you for doing so.
Many other Virtual airlines do the same thing, repetitive flights to and fro however here at FSVA we have other challenges for you. We have a number of virtual TOURS available and they are growing, to add to that there is the option of flying with a friend in multi-player The successful completion of the tours also earns you a "Certificate of Achievement", an award that is no easy feat to attain yet relatively easy to acquire with dedication.
Software Requirements
Here at FSVA like any other virtual airline there are a few flightsim software addons that are needed to make your experience with us actually work.
The first and most important is the tracking client.
All virtual airlines and virtual pilots require a way to record the flights they complete. This is done by running what is called a flight tracker, referred to here as the client which records the departure, fuel, passengers, cargo and destination amongst other things. It DOES NOT track or record any other information other than your Virtual Airline flight information.
We here at FSVA use FSAirlines www.fsairlines.net as the tracking site / governing body. This site holds all our routes and airline information and regulates, controls our activities.
It is here that you "Book" a flight and the completion is recorded.
To access and download the Client you need to navigate to the FSAirlines site using the link above and register after reading through all the terms. This of course is absolutely free as with all the other software you will need. After registration is complete you are then asked to choose the Virtual Airline that you wish to become a pilot for. Choose "Flight Simulator Virtual Airline" and one of our managers will accept your application. You will also be asked at some point during the registration which airport you will be starting from. Most people select the nearest one to their residence which is fine however for ease of your application and acceptance select either KMCO or EGMC.
While you wait for this which should not be long if not immediately you can download and install the "Flight Tracker" from FSAirlines. More information on the use of this can be found in the "Software Setup" section.
Communication
Here at FSVA we use "teamspeak" to communicate with other members of our Airline.
This free software is available from http://www.teamspeak.com/ and instructions for its installation can be found on that site.
FSVA has a dedicated channel / group in TeamSpeak simflyers.zapto.org
